WORKSHOP INFO

Learn the basics of Risograph printing through experimentation in this fun, introductory workshop.

The workshop will begin with a brief overview of the print process, the resurgence of the Risograph machine within graphic art and design circles, and examples of work from international print artists. You'll then get hands-on for the majority of the workshop: play with cut-outs, collages, drawings and text to experiment and create (1) a collaborative mini-zine and (2) collaborative art print to take home.

Participants also have the added option of having their own 2-colour design printed after the workshop .

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

  • Knowledge of the history and resurgence of the Risograph machine within graphic art and design circles

  • How to create suitable artwork for the Risograph using collages, illustrations, text, photographs and more

  • How the Risograph machine works

  • The quirks and advantages of the Risograph machine

  • How to print one or multiple colour prints

REQUIRED MATERIALS

  • All materials will be provided.

  • You may bring your own art making materials to experiment e.g. markers, ink and brushes, pencils, collage materials, etc.).

Facilitated by Melanie Yugo, print artist and co-director of Possible Worlds. She has researched and written on the resurgence of the Risograph machine for various publications, curated shows featuring Risograph work through the series Prints & Inks, and has interviewed and visited the studios of dozens of leading Risograph printers around the world.

WORKSHOP INFO

In this new workshop, learn about the basics of Risograph printing on paper.

The workshop will begin with a brief overview of the print process, the resurgence of the Risograph machine within graphic art and design circles, and examples of work from international print artists. You'll then work with cut-outs, collages, drawings and text to experiment and create a collaborative art print with fellow participants you get to take home.. Participants also have the option of printing their own two-colour design.

  • How to create suitable artwork for the Risograph using collages, illustrations, text, photographs and more

REQUIRED MATERIALS

  • All materials will be provided.

  • You may bring your own art making materials to experiment e.g. markers, ink and brushes, pencils, collage materials, etc.).

WHO IS THIS FOR?

Ideal for any level: beginners, those who want a refresher, those looking to put their artwork on prints or other paper forms, or creatives who would like to add a new skill to their current skill set.

WORKSHOP FACILITATOR

Facilitated by Melanie Yugo, print artist and co-director of Possible Worlds. She has researched and written on the resurgence of the Risograph machine for various publications, curated shows featuring Risograph work through the series Prints & Inks, and has interviewed and visited the studios of dozens of leading Risograph printers around the world.
